This page explains how to delete your Astro Assistant account (iOS and Android, package name co.msastro.assistant), exactly what goes when you delete it, and what stays around for a while longer.
You don't have to be able to sign in to the app to delete your account; there is an email request route below as well.
1. Deleting from the app (the fastest way)
- Open Astro Assistant and sign in to your account.
- Go to the Profile tab in the bottom menu.
- Tap the gear (Settings) icon at the top right.
- Tap the red "Delete my account" row at the very bottom of the page.
- Read the warning that appears and confirm with "Delete my account".
- A final confirmation screen appears: "Final confirmation: this action cannot be undone." Confirm there too.
Deletion starts the moment you confirm. There is no extra waiting period, no countdown such as "your account will be deleted in 30 days" — your personal data is deleted right then, and you are signed out on your device.
2. If you can't access the app: request by email
If you have lost your phone, already deleted the app, or can't sign in:
Write to [email protected].
- In the subject line: Account deletion request
- In the message: which method you used to create your account (Google or Apple)
Identity verification: Your request must come from the email address linked to your account. That is the only way to stop someone from having another person's account deleted; we cannot process requests that come from a different address.
If you used "Hide My Email" when signing in with Apple, the address linked to your account is the relay address ending in @privaterelay.appleid.com. Send your request from that address (writing through Apple's relay is enough).
Once we receive your request, we verify it, act on it and write back to you with the result. It is completed within 30 days at the latest, and on the app side usually within a few business days.
3. What exactly gets deleted?
The moment you confirm, the following are deleted in a single operation and permanently (with no way back):
Your birth details and your chart
- Your birth date, your birth time, your "I don't know my time" flag
- The name of your birth place, its country, its latitude/longitude coordinates, its time zone and the UTC offset at the moment of birth
- Your entire calculated birth chart: planet positions, houses, angle points, aspects and the summary
Your questions and answers
- The text of every question you asked and the full answer the AI wrote
- Including the questions you deleted from the list in the app. When you deleted a question in the app, that record actually stayed in the database; account deletion destroys these permanently as well.
- The technical records created while your questions were processed (including the prompt sent to the AI and the model's raw responses)
- The reports you filed about answers
- The category matches for your questions
Your identity details
The following fields in your account record are emptied (set to NULL):
- Your Google/Firebase user ID
- Your Apple user ID
- Your email address and its verification time
- Your name
- Your profile photo link
- The password field and the "remember me" token
Your sessions
- All of your login tokens (API tokens) are deleted; your session closes immediately on every device your account is signed in on.
- Your device tokens saved for notifications; once they are deleted, no notification can be sent to your account.
4. What is kept, and for how long
After the deletion, the account record itself stays on as a pseudonymised shell for up to 30 more days. Nothing that identifies you (name, email address, Google/Apple provider ID, profile photo) remains in that shell; the fields listed above have been emptied.
The full list of what remains in the shell:
- Account ID (
hash) — an unchanging UUID generated when the account was created. It has no link to your name, your email address or your Google/Apple account, and without the deleted identity fields it does not point to you as a person; even so, KVKK and GDPR count this as pseudonymised personal data, which is why we are writing it out explicitly here. The reason it stays is that the purchase and question credit records below are tied to this ID. - Language preference, country code, time zone offset, platform (iOS/Android)
- The number of question credits left
- AI consent time
- Registration and last-seen dates
- The birth data correction counter and two flags showing whether setup was completed / whether the chart was calculated. These are not the birth data or the chart itself — both of those were permanently deleted above — only a counter and flags that carry the "how many times was it corrected, was setup finished" information.
None of these items can be used to contact you, to recognise you, or to match you with a new account you open; when the 30 days are up, all of them are deleted together with the record itself.
During those 30 days the following also stay:
Purchase records (iap_purchases)
Platform, product code (pack_3, pack_5, pack_10), the store's transaction number, the purchase token, the number of question credits granted, the verification status and its date — plus the raw response the store (Apple / Google) returned during verification.
Question credit movements (credit_logs)
Every purchase, spend, refund and correction movement; the amount and the balance after the transaction.
Why is this kept? For two reasons: (1) accounting and tax legislation require sales records to be kept; (2) after you delete your account you may file a refund/dispute claim with Apple or Google, and that claim is assessed on the basis of these records. Without the records there would be nothing left to back up your refund request.
When does it go? An automated job that runs every night at 03:10 permanently removes from the database the accounts whose deletion request is more than 30 days old. When the account record goes, the purchase records and the question credit movements are deleted along with it. After 30 days nothing is left.
One extra cleanup: The raw response returned by the store is additionally emptied automatically once 12 months have passed since the purchase — this applies to users who have not deleted their accounts too.
Backups: Data may still be present in system backups for a short while longer; backups are overwritten on rotation and are not used in normal operation.
On the store side: Your purchase and invoice records at Apple and Google are not in our hands; they are subject to those companies' own retention policies and we cannot delete them.
5. Deletion cannot be undone
There is no "undo" button for this. After you confirm:
- You can sign in again with the same Google or Apple account, but a brand new account is created from scratch. Because your identity fields have been emptied, the system cannot match you with your old record — it was built that way precisely so that it can't.
- In the new account you have no chart; you have to enter your birth details from the beginning.
- Your old questions and answers do not come back. They have been deleted.
- Your allowance for changing your birth details is reset, because you are on a new account.
- Your remaining question credits are not refunded and are not transferred to the new account. Whatever your balance is, it goes with it. If you want to use up your credits before deleting your account, use them.
6. How long does it take?
| Step | Time |
|---|---|
| Deleting from the app (Settings > Delete my account) | At the moment you confirm, within seconds |
| Request by email — verification and processing | Usually a few business days, 30 days at the latest |
| Permanent removal of the pseudonymised account shell and the purchase records | 30 days after the deletion date |
| Emptying of the raw store response for a purchase | 12 months after the purchase |
7. Asking us to delete your data without deleting your account
If you don't want to close your account but you do want certain data deleted, you can ask for that too. KVKK art. 7 and GDPR art. 17 give you this right, and we keep it as a separate route.
Steps:
- Write to [email protected].
- Subject line: Data deletion request
- In the message, say what you want deleted. For example: "delete all of my questions", "delete my birth details and my chart", "delete my questions from before this date".
- Identity check: your request has to come from the email address attached to your account — it is the only way to stop someone interfering with another person's data. If you used "Hide My Email" with Apple, write from that relay address.
What gets deleted: the items you ask for are permanently deleted, in the scope listed in section 3 above. If you have your questions deleted, the question text, the answer, the prompt sent to the AI, the model's raw response and the processing logs all go together.
What stays: your account stays open; your email address, your name and your user ID remain, because we are not deleting your account. Your purchase records also remain: they are the trail for store refund disputes and for your remaining question credits. The detail is in sections 6 and 8 of the Privacy Policy; the invoice itself is not ours anyway — it sits with Apple and Google.
Time: we complete your request within 30 days at the latest and write back to you with the outcome. It is free of charge.
One important distinction: when you delete a question from the list inside the app, that record stays in the database. If you want the record genuinely destroyed, send the request above or delete your account.
